The Valsesia Valley
The Valsesia Valley is an Alpine valley located in the northeastern part of the Piedmont region. It is crossed by the Sesia River, from which it takes its name, which originates from the glaciers on the southern side of Monte Rosa. The jagged profile of the valley extends in a sinuous shape for tens of kilometers and is considered one of the most beautiful in the Alps, as well as being of particular geological interest.
Valsesia is a tourist destination of growing popularity, thanks to the uniqueness of its natural and cultural heritage, which is preserved and enhanced through the establishment of protected areas, natural parks and ecomuseums.
The municipality of Alagna Valsesia
Alagna Valsesia is an Alpine resort located at the foot of Monte Rosa, at the head of the Sesia valley. Characterized by its rugged and wild nature, the landscape has been shaped over the centuries by the Walser people, who settled here from the 13th century onwards.
The legacy of this colonization is evident in the small villages that dot the territory, with stone and wood houses built according to architectural principles adapted to the local climate and the needs of rural life. While the development of tourism, especially winter sports, since the mid-20th century, has undoubtedly had an impact, much of the natural and cultural heritage has been preserved, ensuring Alagna's authenticity and setting it apart from other Alpine regions.
